Aunque no a un nivel tan exigente como en escalas mayores, la escala pequeña también puede detallarse de forma sencilla. Este pequeño artículo quizá pueda ayudar a encontrar formas sencillas de mejorar los modelos de vehículos a 1/72.

La maqueta que sirve de ejemplo en este artículo es un SOMUA S35 de Heller. Es ya antigua pero aún se mantiene en el mercado con una calidad media. En principio pensé hacerla de caja, pero como a veces sucede, conforme va uno recopilando información, más rincones descubre con errores o ausencias muy evidentes. Una de ellas era la falta de los tornillos de sujeción de la rueda tractora, que en el caso del SOMUA eran las posteriores. Lo único que necesité para hacerlos fue una simple varilla de plástico estirado (el viejo recurso de toda la vida), unas tijeras bien afiladas, un minitaladro manual y pegamento.
The kit I've used as example is Heller's SOMUA S35. Despite the old tooling, the kit is still quite acceptable. At first I thought to build it straight from the box but as it usually happens, the more information you get, the more mistakes or things to improve you find. One of the clearest omissions was the lack of bolts on the drivers which in the case of the SOMUA were at the back. The only things I needed were a stretched sprue rod, a pair of scissors, a pin vise and some glue.

Lo primero, lógicamente, es taladrar los agujeros en el lugar donde colocaremos los remaches. En este caso casi puede hacerse a ojo por el tamaño de la pieza. Conviene siempre marcar el punto exacto con un objeto punzante de modo que la broca no se desplace al girarla.
The first thing to do is obviously to drill the holes where we will insert the bolts. In this case you don't have to be very careful as the bolts are simmetrically placed around the wheel. It's advisable to mark each point with a needle or another sharp tool.

A continuación se introduce una varilla de plástico estirado en cada agujero y se une con pegamento de Tamiya, que es muy fino y apenas deja huella.
Then a stretched plastic rod is used in each hole. It was glued with Tamiya extra thin cement which barely leaves stains.

Una vez secas, se cortan las varillas y se lijan cuidadosamente con lija fina hasta darles forma aplanada, suficiente para la escala.
Once dried, cut each rod and carefully sand the new bolts to make them flat to scale.

Y eso es todo. Ya tenemos nuevos remaches para nuestro SOMUA 1/72. De la misma manera podrían hacerse en otras partes del carro con el grosor que queramos.
And that's all. Here are the new bolts for the model. In the same way they can be made for other parts of the vehicle and as small as we wish.
