Este modelo de Hasegawa es el antiguo. Lo compré algún tiempo antes de que saliera al mercado el nuevo, mucho más detallado a partir de un molde renovado. Como no era cuestión de dejarlo sin montar, me dediqué a reunir información sobre las mejoras que se le habían añadido y, con la ayuda de fotos históricas del Ise, puse manos a la obra. Me llevó más tiempo del que esperaba, pero los resultados merecieron la pena. En la primera foto señalo las mejoras que hice. |
This is Hasegawa old tooling. I bought it some time before the Japanese manufacturer released the new one, more detailed and made from an upgraded mold. As I was eager to start building the model, I dedicated some time to gather information about the new model and the changes made. I also had a look at some war photos of the Ise and then I set to work. Building the ship took me longer than I hoped, but I think the results were worth the effort. In the first picture of this page I have drawn a circle around the parts I added. |

Los botes llevan todos sus remos correspondientes
hechos con hilo de cobre. Las lanchas se detallaron abriéndoles las
escotillas. A la chimenea le faltaban algunas tuberías que sobresalen y que
pueden verse en algunas fotos del buque. Se las añadí con cobre. El modelo
nuevo de Hasegawa incluye los pescantes para los botes de proa que faltaban en
este, así que decidí hacerlos yo mismo con plástico estirado y la ayuda de
alguna foto para calcular su altura aproximada. Tuve suerte de poder incluir las anclas del juego de mejora que traía otro modelo de la misma marca y tuve que quitar las que venían con la maqueta con un cutter y mucho cuidado. |
I made the oars for the boats with very thin wire. I
detailed the motorboats by opening their windows and hatches. The funnel
lacked some pipes that can be seen in war photos of the ship and I made them
with wire. Hasegawa's new tooling includes boat davits next to the bridge
which were missing in my model, so I had to build them in plastic
calculating their approximate height with the help of photos. I was lucky to have a pair of anchors from another model and I removed the ones that come with the model with a knife and a lot of patience. |

Los hidros Aichi E13A Jake
llevan su antena y su hélice correspondiente. Sé que hay en el mercado
hélices de fotograbado pero ¿por qué no complicarse la vida y hacérselas
con cobre? Las barandillas fueron capítulo aparte. Era la primera vez que intentaba poner unas y fui a elegir quizás el modelo más difícil. Esos entrantes y salientes de la cubierta superior fueron un auténtico dolor de cabeza. |

seaplanes were added their antennas and propellers. I know they sell PE
propellers which are more detailed and time-saving, but what if I made them
myself? Exactly. Wire...again! Railing was the devil of a job indeed. It was the first time I used it in a model and I really wanted to give it a try, but I think I chose the worst model to start with. The zigzag shape was a real pain. |

Como detalle final, se me ocurrió añadir unas banderas de señales a ambos lados del puente hechas con papel vegetal. Este material tiene la ventaja de que se pinta fácilmente, es fino y se puede doblar para simular que la bandera ondea. La calca de la bandera de la marina japonesa la pegué también sobre papel vegetal, e igualmente la hice "ondear". |
As a final detail, I added some code flag signals made of tracing paper. This can be easily painted, it is very thin and can be bent to show the flag flying. I cemented the IJN flag on this paper and I made it "fly" too. |

| Para imitar el efecto de desgaste sobre las planchas de madera de la cubierta, apliqué una base acrílica de amarillo desierto a aerógrafo que posteriormente aclaré con un pincel muy fino y una mezcla de color ante más blanco. Hice dos aclarados sucesivos. | To show the effects of weathering on the wooden deck, I airbrushed a base of desert yellow and later I cleared it with two shades of buff and white. |
